Schema Markup Generator
Generate JSON-LD structured data for common page types.
Paste this into your page head. Validate the result with Google’s Rich Results Test — well-formed JSON-LD does not guarantee eligibility for a given rich result.
About this tool
Fill in a form and get valid JSON-LD structured data for the page types that actually earn rich results — articles, products, FAQs, local businesses, events and breadcrumbs. Required fields are marked so you do not ship markup Google will reject.
How to use it
- Pick the schema type that matches your page.
- Complete the fields, paying attention to the required ones.
- Copy the script tag into your page head.
What structured data actually does
Structured data does not improve your rankings. It makes a page eligible for rich results — star ratings, FAQ accordions, breadcrumb trails, recipe cards, event listings.
The effect is on click-through rate rather than position. A result occupying more space with more information tends to get clicked more, and that is the entire mechanism. Anyone promising rankings from schema markup is selling something.
Eligible is not guaranteed. Google decides per query whether to show a rich result, and it has repeatedly reduced which types qualify — FAQ rich results were significantly cut back in 2023 and now appear mainly for authoritative health and government sites.
JSON-LD is the recommended format. It sits in a <script> tag, separate from your markup, so it does not tangle with your HTML the way Microdata does. Google has stated a preference for it.
Place it anywhere. Head or body, Google reads both. The head is conventional.
The rules that get markup rejected
Structured data that contradicts the page is worse than none — it is a manual-action risk, not just a wasted effort.
It must match visible content. Marking up a 4.8-star rating that appears nowhere on the page is exactly what the spam policies prohibit. If a person cannot see it, do not mark it up.
Required properties are genuinely required. A Product without name, image and an offers block with price and currency is simply ignored. This tool marks required fields so you can see what is missing.
Do not mark up other people's content. Review markup is for reviews of your item on your page, not aggregated ratings you pulled from elsewhere.
One primary type per page. A page can carry Breadcrumbs plus its main type, but declaring it simultaneously an Article, a Product and a FAQPage confuses the parser and tends to yield nothing.
Always confirm with Google's Rich Results Test. Well-formed JSON-LD — which this produces — is necessary but not sufficient.
Frequently asked questions
- Where should the script go?
- Anywhere in the head or body — Google reads it from either. The head is conventional. Use a script tag with type set to application/ld+json, which this tool generates for you.
- Does structured data improve rankings?
- Not directly. It makes a page eligible for rich results — star ratings, FAQ accordions, breadcrumbs — which typically lift click-through rate. The ranking effect is indirect.
- How do I check it is valid?
- Run the output through Google's Rich Results Test and the Schema.org validator. This tool produces well-formed JSON-LD, but only Google can confirm eligibility for a given rich result.
